Medium Raw. Anthony Bourdain.

Bourdain, Anthony. Medium Raw. HarperCollins New York 2010. N; December 2010.

Second book by this self-confessedly third-rate chef turned writer. He got famous from his first one, Kitchen Confidential, and in this one he doesn’t bother much with order, but deals with all sorts of personal, food commentary, food-commentary industry, and miscellaneous issues. One chapter is entitled “Alan Richman is a Douchebag”. He deals perceptively with conflict of interest, and admits to it. He has a history as a hard drug user which he says he’s left behind, he drinks like a fish, and he had me mad-slavering over the described succulents in his food appreciation, the streets of the cities of Vietnam in particular. Crazy but fun. 8.0
